Maui, Hawaii

Maui, Hawaii

April 2019: Maui had a lot of nice surprises for me. I typically favor the cooler climates - but April turned out to be a great time to go, relax, see whales up close and make the most of what the Island had to offer! It was beautiful and interesting!

Prague, Kutna Hora

Prague at Christmas, and Kutna Hora

Dec 2017: What, back to CZ again? Heck yes! This time with my sister Anita, who had been wanting to visit this beautiful place with me ever since my first trip in 2009. Finally we made it happen - it just doesn't lose the magic for me!

Prague, Cesky Krumlov & Vienna

May 2017: Had been itching to get back to Prague, and my sister Michele wanted to see flowers in bloom there. Since Vienna was on the agenda as well, decided to make a stop in Cesky Krumlov for a day and night - what a beautiful little medieval town!

Reykjavik, Iceland, 2016

Iceland: Reykjavik in Black & White

December 2016: I know, Iceland again? But this was a very short solo trip in December, to see what Christmas looked like in Reykjavik. I didn't go far from city center! I decided to do the slideshow in B&W, just to make things look a little different, having been here twice already.

Willamette Wine Country

Portland, OR

May 2016: The impetus behind this trip was seeing Multnomah Falls. After that, I discovered a plethora of things to do around Portland! Washington Park with the roses in bloom, and the Japanese Garden; Lan Su Chinese Garden; a scenic drive along the Columbia River Gorge, and a Willamette wine tasting tour. What beautiful country!

Dubrovnik, Croatia

October 2015: It had long been my dream to visit the "Land of a Thousand Lakes," Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia. I found a tour that took me there (with my sister Michele) - and to many other stunning places in Croatia: Zagreb, the Istrian Peninsula (Opatija, Pula, Rovinj, Livade); then down the coast to Sibenik, Split, Trogir, Ston, and finally Dubrovnik. There were beautiful stops in-between, wine tastings at Bibich and Milos wineries, and always our tour group was warmly welcomed by the lovely people of Croatia!

Akureyri area Iceland

Akureyri & Reykjavik, Iceland

January 2015: This was my second trip to Iceland; it was beautifully blanketed with snow, and absolutely spectacular. Akureyri was a new stop for me - what a splendid 3 days my sister Anita and I had there visiting Lake Myvatn, and Godafoss waterfall; and then another few days around Reykjavik, and a drive up the coast to Akranes.

Polar Bears, Churchill Manitoba

November 2014: For a week, I went on a Natural Habitats Polar Bear Photography Tour. It turned out to be a fabulous trip all around - I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity to capture the soul of these beautiful white bears in pictures. Many thanks to NatHab, and Melissa Scott (guide) and Roy Corral (photographer) for a fountain of knowledge and patience!

Budapest Parliament Building -d.hromish

Budapest, Hungary

December 2013: Spent a little over 4 days in Budapest, and this is a place I would highly recommend. I didn't think I'd find a place on a par with Prague, which I loved - but Budapest was a delightful surprise! Of course going at Christmas time in Europe is always fun!

Vienna, Austria

December 2013: Second stop after Budapest, above. We only had about 2 and a half days in Vienna, but made the most of it. It was everything I expected! Out of our week in Europe, we only had one day with sunshine, and that was our last day in Vienna!

Castell de Montjuïc, Barcelona, Spain - D.Hromish

Barcelona, Spain

October 2011: So many things to see, so little time. Seeing the Sagrada Familia has long been a dream of mine, I only wish construction was complete! (Prediction for completion is 2026.) Alas, I did not have the time to tour the inside of many of the places I visited in Barcelona.
